Window Shades

I have some Roman Shades in high windows and would like to convert them to raise and lower with a remote. Do you know of any conversion kit or tools available that will automate this type of window covering? Replacement shades run about 00, so am hoping to convert the ones I have.

My master bedroom has a beautiful view of city lights, but also anyone from the outside can see in. Is there any kind of window shade that allows me to see the city lights but will prevent people from seeing in at the same time?

I was pulling the string on one of my window shades to pull them up, the shade snapped, a piece broke off, and the whole thing came tumbling down. The shades were part of the apartment when I moved in (I didn’t buy them myself, they are my landlord’s property). Who pays to fix or repair them – me or my landlord? I think its me, but am unsure.

I could care less about what people do but in my neighborhood a lot of people turn on every light in the house and leave the windows shades up . In the pitch dark, you can’t help but see them in there. eating, walking around, seeing what they’re watching on t.v. Doesn’t it bother people being an open showcase for the world ?

im am trying to find out which halloween movie has a picture of michael myers looking out of or just like in front of a window with the shade down on the back cover of the box.

I have bay windows which only allow a 1 3/4" clearance to the soffit above (this lies at the lowest part of a vaulted ceiling). I want to install window trim around them but think narrow trim looks wimpy. Can I install nice architectural trim through the rest of the home and skip the bay windows…perhaps detracting from no trim through the use of nice window treatments, i.e. roman shades? Or would this look awkward? Thanks!

How do you compute the energy savings in terms of lower cooling loads using external shading?

or should i just settle for window tinting? if you have this feature in your bmw, please tell me if you use it and feel it’s worth the extra $$. thanks.

And basically you can make all the rows go up temporarily by pulling on the main stick with strings running through on the right. I just wanted to open my window. Now it’s basically stuck now, and the shades won’t come back down to the window sill. Help?

I tried the first two answer suggestions, no good still. The rod’s flat end is very stiff, I’m afraid I’ll break it off. There seems to be a cog and stop thingy in there, maybe take the end off the rod and do something?

I have windows with wood trim. There isn’t much of a ledge so I’m trying to figure out what type of shades I can use. I do not like blinds.The shades I see at stores look best if its recessed and there isn’t enough room. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

I know they have different colors, but the regular grey/dak color. Are some 35% lighter than others or are all 35% the same color. I’ve been looking at pictures of cars and they say they are 35% but some look lighter than others? idk. can someone explain?

I have a 5 pane bay window, I’d like to install rolling window shades with inside mount, the windows are in a plastic frame. Worried about damaging the frame using inside mounts.

I want to buy solar window shades for my kitchen. I am on a fixed budget, so I want to get the best price that I can. I will have my son install them. I am sure that if I have a company come out and measure etc that it would cost me more. Is there any discount stores or somewhere on the internet that someone knows about? I would appreciate any help. Thanks

Amazingly enough- the neighbor moved in maybe 5 months ago and I have NEVER seen them/him/her and neither has any other neighbor. The window shades are always up but at night I can see flashes of strong red light. Happpens at night maybe a dozen times a night randomly- like 3 or 4 days a week. What the hell is going on over there?

I went to a popular national home improvement store and purchased cellular shades for my windows at home. They cut them to my custom width right there in the store. Today as I was installing them, I noticed that the edges where they cut were sometimes cleanly cut and sometimes very frayed, with extra pieces of fabric sticking out from the edges.

Is this normal? Or perhaps their cutting blade was a bit dull and that is the reason why some of the cuts are not clean? Should I take them back and ask them to recut them or touch them up? They were about 80 apiece.

I am going to staging my home. I have made all the decisions except window. I can’t be sure which one will be better. Please help…..

I have vinyl roller window shades in my house. All of them have scalloped cream colored fringe on the bottom. How can I clean the fringe without ruining it? Should I cut off the fringe and just make the bottom of the shade go straight across? I need some advise from someone who is familiar with this problem.

The furniture in my room is made of light yellow wood and has some dark blue on them. I just need some ideas, what colors would go great with the furniture. I was first thinking light green walls and silver window shades but later that seemed kinda weird. What are your ideas?
